Epidemic of Epidemics

I have heard several news sources echoing what I have been getting at in this blog for the past few months:  We are in a epidemic of epidemics.  This news article from the Washington Post is along the lines of what I have been saying, but it really only goes into the West Nile and the Yosemite Hantavirus.  Apparently they aren’t reading the Funk Freedom Press as religiously as they should be otherwise they would know about ALL the various diseases that are back en force (outlined here for new readers to the FFP) .  Coast to Coast recently dedicated half of their nightly show to the strange outbreaks that have been plaguing the US some of which slipped under my watchful eye.  People are taking note, and you read it here first.

East West Nile

It looks like the West Nile is not exclusive to the west.  A New Jersey man died from the West Nile virus last week.  The article does not give his age, as most of the deaths have been to the elderly and those with compromised immune systems.

*Warning Conspiracy Theory*

I have been thinking about this a lot, since the FFP has seemingly turned into a warning banner for the explosion of strange viral and bacterial infections flooding the mainstream news.  Most of these infections are not extremely virulent, Ebola being the obvious exception, so it makes you wonder why now?  These diseases are targeting the physically weaker of the society, culling the herd if you will.  Is this man made (purposeful or otherwise), or is his Mother Earth balancing the scales?

South West Nile UPDATE

My apologies, but the FFP has been down due to unforeseen circumstances.  I will make quick work of the news as there are lots of updates.

This West Nile outbreak is officially the worst in history.  Thousands of cases, but few of them are lethal.  The number of cases are up 25% from last week.  I am not one who believes this something to be feared from the actual disease standpoint, but the large number of outbreaks hitting the mainstream news is.

South-West Nile Outbreak: Dallas Edition Day 15

I can’t believe this is still going on, but it appears that the West Nile virus is in full outbreak mode.  1,590 cases, 66 deaths, and half of all reported are in Texas.  According to the report, and this still baffles my mind, the hot, dry weather is causing the mosquito boom.  I always thought they bred in old, stagnant water.  This is why I got out of entomology.

In New York, and this is interesting, they are spraying the rich neighborhoods for the pathogen carrying insects.  The Upper West Side is being coated with pesticide that is in such a small dose “It does not pose a threat to humans”, however they are telling everyone to stay inside, and to remove toys and clothes that are outside.  That sounds completely safe to me!
